Hi there! I’m Brandon Osborne, and I’ve been programming professionally since I was a teenager in the late nineties. My father was in IT and worked at Digital Equipment Corporation. I remember one time he sat me down in front of one of the mainframe servers when I was eight years old, figuring I could do no harm. A few minutes later, the emergency response team came running in because I crashed the server while “learning,” as I called it back then.
That feels like an ancient memory now, but I still learn in much the same way — by doing. These days, I usually crash virtual machines that I set up on my own computer instead of servers.😄 I graduated from the Law School of the University of Michigan & not only maintained my interest in computers but paid for university and grad school by offering IT & development services. While in university, I studied computer forensics & internet law extensively.
My professional journey has been diverse and rewarding. Before completing university, I began consulting for industry giants, starting with networking at GTE (now Verizon). My passion for programming was reignited when I began developing network monitoring solutions in VB6. I had the privilege of being a founding developer at both eBay and PayPal. I concluded my consulting career as a Lead Web Developer for the US Department of Defense, where I advocated for the .Net Framework during its beta phase.
I started coderPro.net in 2007 and haven’t looked back since! Our primary focus has always been on Microsoft and emerging technologies. We’ve been involved in alpha testing on everything from .Net MAUI to Azure Cognitive Services. We’re proud to have released an artificially intelligent medical billing program using Cognitive Services before it was officially released to the public. Over the years, we have become known as “turnaround consultants.” About 50% of our projects were mismanaged, poorly developed, or a combination of the two. We take projects like that and apply our proven project management and engineering methodologies to put the projects back on track.
When I’m not working, you can usually find me traveling to some far-flung place, hiking, or teaching scuba diving. Those are my four biggest personal passions. I’ve also been writing (mainly about tech or travel) for five years and will release my first book in a few months.
So, all in all, I'm just your "run-of-the-mill" globetrotting entrepreneur. 😆
